Solio Ranch & Game reserve are large supporters of community projects. The main aim is to empower the community as our most important stakeholders & for the community to learn about environmental impact & conservation, which in turn creates a future generation which will protect the wildlife & its environs.
Mobile Dental Clinic
Solio Ranch, in conjuction with Smilestar, are also providing complimentary annual dental clinics for all schools and community members surrounding Solio.
School Feeding Program
Solio Ranch & Game Reserve at present time support 3 schools in the surrounding communities. Using the kind donations from Individuals & Co-operations visiting Solio Game Reserve, we manage to supply over 300 children everyday with lunchtime meals. This has helped in keeping the students in school.
Cloud School
Introducing community members to vocational training through solar powered tablets, in conjunction with Kenswed and Mama Layla to provide free education to community youth in order for them to better their lives. The community members are given the opportunity to learn: Pastry, Computer Programming, Hair Dressing and Entrepreneurship.
Women's Empowerment Projects
Solio Ranch has set up a community women's group from all communities surrounding Solio Ranch & Solio Game Reserve. Solio provides and hand stitched washable Sanitary Products to the girls and women in the community.The Women also benefit from self-sustaining projects to encourage & empower the community to be able to support their families. These projects are:
Jewelry made
from
Wire and Rope
We make jewelry using old fence wire and bits of rope. Simple materials, shaped by hand into pieces we like to wear. Sometimes rough, sometimes delicate, each one carries a bit of the place and the people who made it.
Sewing
for
Daily Life
We sew reusable sanitary pads and diapers using local fabrics and simple tools. It’s a practical skill, shared among women here, to support each other and care for everyday needs with dignity.
Donating washable
Sanitary Towels
We give reusable pads to girls and women in the community who need them. It’s a small way to help more people feel comfortable, safe, and included—every day of the month.
