Malaika's Story

Malaika means “angel” in Swahili, and it suits her perfectly.

She was rescued from Solio Game Reserve on March 25th, 2025, after being found alone on the plains. Just two weeks old, tiny and vulnerable, Malaika had likely been left behind after territorial fighting forced her mother to flee. She wouldn’t have survived on her own.

Since that day, she’s been gently cared for by Charles, who has been with her every step of the way. He feeds her, comforts her, and stays close so she always feels safe. Thanks to his steady presence and quiet patience, Malaika is beginning to find her footing.

She’s a calm, gentle calf — cautious, but curious. She takes her time, watching the world carefully, and sticks close to Charles as she starts to explore. There’s a quiet strength in her, even after all she’s been through.

Malaika may have lost her mother, but she’s found a new kind of family here. With time, care, and love, she’s growing stronger every day. Her journey is just beginning, and we’ll be with her all the way.
