Mchoro's Story

Mchoro means design in Swahili — a fitting name for this young zebra with his striking stripes and quiet charm.

He was found alone after a group of zebras moved on to a new grazing area, leaving him behind. Still very young, Mchoro couldn’t keep up and was left to fend for himself. Without his mother, he wouldn’t have survived for long.

He was brought into the orphanage while still small and uncertain. But he quickly found comfort in the company of two other young zebras, Muundo and Mstari. The three have become close companions, always together — grazing, exploring, and resting side by side.

Mchoro is calm and gentle, often watching before he joins in. His bond with the others has helped him feel safe and at home. The three of them are now a little herd of their own, growing up together in a place where they are protected and cared for.

Life for Mchoro has found a new shape, full of quiet moments, warm sun, and the steady rhythm of friendship.
