Urgent Action: Rescuing a Southern White Rhino

Our Solio Rhino Monitoring team together with the KWS Veterinary team responded swiftly to a report of a Southern White rhino adult male which we believed was to be attacked by an older male lion while the rhino was sleeping. His main injuries from the lion involved a severe foot pad mauling, however with the incredible support from the KWS veterinary team, who arrived by helicopter, we were able to dart and provide life-saving treatment within 20 minutes. Swift and urgent responses like these are critical to preserving our white rhino population. Every minute counts, and ensuring their recovery is key to safeguarding their future. He is now under 24/7 surveillance and recovering well. Grateful for our partnerships and for the ongoing dedication to wildlife protection.
